Crocheting is good for you!

I love, love to crochet and freely admit that I am addicted to it.  I simply have to be crocheting and I crochet everyday.  Just what is it about crochet that has me so in its thrall?  I know I am not the only one and it isn't just crochet either.  It can be knitting, beading, cross stitch, drawing, painting or, you know, it can be almost anything you are passionate about.

So, I started to investigate.  I love a good search on Bing or Google.

Well, darn darn darn!

I hate my laptop's keyboard!!!  I really do!  I had 3 links going on and pfffftt!! just like that they were gone.  Oh, I could tear my hair out.  Or throw out my laptop.  But, I won't do either.  (I'd like to, seriously)

Now, I feel like giving up and just forgetting the whole thing. But, here is what I will do.  I am going to post my Bing search so I won't forget about it.

Crochet as Meditation

Yeah, so now I am out of the mood and my birds are awake clamoring to be uncovered and fed and left out of the cage.  Can't get anything done with Chili, the baby.  He is like having a toddler in the house.  He is 3 months old and gets into everything like a two year old would.  I am not kidding.

Plarn Purse

My grand daughter requested a purse made from Walmart bags and so I made one.  For some reason my grand children think it is cool I can make things from plastic bags, and it is cool.  It is better than throwing them away and I get to feel good about doing something good for the enviornment.

New hat for grand daughter

The sequins in this yarn doesn't really show up in this picture, but it is just too cute.  The yarn was Yarn Bee Enchantress, color Peony, which I found at Hobby Lobby marked down.  I will definitely make more things with sequined yarn.  I love the look of it.  I also made a pair of fingerless gloves with this yarn which I don't have a picture of just yet.

My camera is on its last legs and has been taking awful pictures.  I don't know if I can make any adjustments to it or not.  My phone camera takes better pics than my camera.

My grand daughter loved the hat.

Plarn coaster

For this I cut the plastic bags in a continuous strip, making it thinner and used a G hook and it was much easier to work with.  I like the plarn coaster as my cups don't stick to it like it does with cotton yarn.

Now, if I were wanting to make another basket or a bag I would probably use the loop method for cutting the bag as I did in the basket simply because it makes for a sturdier product.

I made two round coasters but didn't take any pictures of them.

Ha! Figured it out!

Plarn Basket

I took this photo with my phone and uploaded it to Evernote and I had to figure out how to get it from Evernote to this blog.  I figured it out.  I opened it with Picassa and used the Blog button and it worked!  There is always a way around things.

A few years ago I had played around with Plarn but haven't done anything recently until now.  I like how the basket turned out and it is sitting on my bathroom counter right now.  I used the looped method of making plarn for this.

I used an H hook.

What I have been making

Okay, I am not good at keeping this up to date.  I'm not disciplined enough and I have been busy crocheting.  It's what I love to do.  I am also bad about taking pictures of what I have been making.

My current project is a shawl that I found here.  I made two other shawls but this one is different and for me, a bit trickier as I can usually memorize the patterns easily but for this one I have to keep checking because of the increases.  I would not recommend this one for a beginner.  I am enjoying making it though.

Oh, I think I will stop and try and get some pictures take today so I can add them to  my post.

Poncho for Kylie

I had this huge ball of Sensations Rainbow yarn in pinks and I had made a couple of hats with it, but then it sat for years taking up space.  Spring is coming and I thought I'd make ponchos for the girls and I finally used this yarn.  I still have a bunch of it left.  It doesn't seem to run out.

Two Barbie Dresses

I've made what seems like a ton of dresses for Barbie for my grand daughters and I am able to stitch some up without a pattern which these two dresses are made.  I have one grand daughter who loves the dresses and she always thinks they are beautiful and I love making them for her.

I never played with dolls when I was a girl, but I now own two Barbie dolls.  Hey, I have to be able to try on the dresses as I make them.

Crochet flower curtain

I finished this in December 2012.
I waited a long time to find something I liked to make for this window.  I got the inspiration from Once Upon a Pink Moon.  She has all the information about where she got the flower motif.  I think it was from the Flower Bed.  I swear I have not one creative idea in my head, so thank goodness, there are all these creative crocheters that share.

My camera is not a good one and therefor takes crappy pictures and for this I apologize.  Soon I hope to get a better camera.

Anyway, I love the curtain and I have gotten  many compliments on it, even from men.  It looks so cute from the outside too.  It took me 2 weeks to finish.

Fingerless gloves

I made these a while ago, probably in the fall and for my grand daughter, using Shimmer yarn.  I forget what the brand is, but it is Shimmer.

Baby Hat

(My keyboard is giving me fits!  The cursor jumps all over the place.)
You can find the pattern here.

Barbie clothes

I have grand daughters and they have Barbie dolls, so, I make clothes for Barbie and I love doing it.

Here are a few I have done.

I used Caron's Simply Soft, a G hook and patterns I found on the internet.  I use yarn because little girl's fingers are tough on dresses with all the pulling and tugging that goes on.  I sometimes use baby yarn and an E hook.
I also make up my own dresses as it is fun to improvise.
